Ratings and Firm:
Mr. Friedlander and his firm are rated "av" in Martindale -Hubbel. Only the top 10%of attorneys in the country achieve this rating. This rating, as you may know, is provided by fellow bar members and is intended as a rating system for other lawyers to use when looking for an attorney to refer a case to. It is the highest rating a lawyer can attain by which he is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.
Education:
He graduated from Georgetown University in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Business administration and accounting and an LLB from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1968.
Practice:
He is licensed in all state and federal courts of Virginia and Washington, D.C, (including U.S. Supreme Court). He has been active as a trial lawyer in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia for 53 years. The focus of his practice is Real Estate, Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning and related business and entity law areas.
Judgeship:
He was appointed in 1985 as a substitute Judge for the General District Court of Virginia and continues to serve.
Author:
He has written a number of law books, articles and prepared many seminars. Associations:
He is an Honorary Member in the Association of Fellows and Legal Scholars of the Center for International Legal Studies as a result of his Writings. He is past President (1991-1995) of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and belongs to other professional associations. Past president of the McLean Bar Association and now its Treasurer. He serves on the Brincefield Roundtable advisory group to the No. Va. Assn of REALTORS and is also an associate member.
Teaching:
For several decades he has taught broker law as well as real estate law and property management to real estate brokers and agents at the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS and previously to the Virginia Assn of REALTORS . He has also taught courses in advanced estate planning and other real estate related courses for the benefit of fellow attorneys.
Military Service:
He was commissioned in the US Army through the ROTC program and became airborne jump qualified in 1969, serving a tour at the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC and then a tour in Vietnam (1970-19971)
